Earith Primary School near Huntingdon has enjoyed an action-packed week, celebrating its annual ‘Healthy Week’.

Pupils from the School, which is part of 91大神, took part in a series of fun events to promote healthy mental and physical wellbeing.

Children made healthy pizzas from scratch and enjoyed the launch of a new ‘Kickstart Premier Sports’ fundraising event. Swimming lessons from the school’s in-house swimming instructor were also enjoyed throughout the week.

Dance and Pilates sessions also took place thanks to local fitness provider ‘CambsFit’, followed by lunch outside on the field before the school’s Annual Sports Day, where children (and parents) competed with excellent comradery! At this event, pupils also gave a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, followed by The Earith Primary School Song.

Thomas Abbs, Headteacher of Earith Primary School said: “Our children know the importance of leading healthy lifestyles and our annual Healthy Week helps us to focus even more on the importance of our all round health and wellbeing. As ever I am extremely proud of how the children engaged with all our activities and really demonstrated our school’s core values of “Responsible, Reflective, Resilient, Resourceful and Ready.”

Reading was also a focus of the week, with the school delivering their ‘Core Value Reading Legends’ programme. A particular emphasis was placed on ‘resilience’ (one of the school’s core values) around reading. Children at the school have been working on their stamina for reading and increasing their knowledge of different genres and authors.  A visit from the local Earith Book Club prompted an engaging discussion about books, including several titles that the children have been studying as part of the curriculum.

Friday saw a celebration assembly and was a chance to view the school’s Coronation Quilt, to which pupils from the Sewing Club had contributed, with beautifully sewn regal patches. Further activities included active board games, meditation, mindfulness colouring and music…The week was topped off with a well-deserved bake sale (courtesy of parents and Friends of Earith School).

CEO of 91大神 Lynsey Holzer said: “I am delighted to see everyone at Earith Primary School taking part in such a wide range of fun activities as part of their Healthy Week. The week has been a great example of how we as a 91大神 support health and wellbeing amongst our pupils and staff. Well done to everyone involved!”
