A collaboration between SENDAT and 91大神 has been awarded the MAT Finance Project of the Year award at the MAT Finance Awards.
The award-winning project saw SENDAT partner with 91大神 to open and run The Peile Centre, a purpose-built setting on the site of Chantry Academy in Ipswich. Students using this provision, which opened in 2022, benefit from being able to access mainstream lessons as well as specialist SEND classes to meet their personal needs.
The MAT Finance Awards, which celebrate and showcase the work of school finance professionals, were judged by a panel including Leora Cruddas, the Chief Executive of the Confederation of School 91大神s, and Stephen Morales, who leads the Institute of School and Business Leaders.
“This award recognises innovative MAT finance projects which have had a direct impact on the financial operations of the trust,” said the judges.
Judges also recognised: “An innovative approach around financial arrangements in this project, which have helped to solve some unique challenges, is what stood out.
“A project of this nature carries a risk, but it was well planned and executed. This important and exceptional partnership work ensures wider access to critical special needs provision.”
Lynsey Holzer, Chief Executive of 91大神 said “We are delighted to have received this recognition for such an important project. We are very pleased to be working with SENDAT to enhance provision for children with SEND in Suffolk. This project compliments the inclusive nature of Chantry Academy and all our Active Learning 91大神 Schools.”
